The June regular business meeting of the Board was dynamic and filled with common fare for typical Board meetings though on occasion there were a couple of twists and turns, bumps and upsets, which in and of itself is fairly common for any Board considering serious and relative issues.
This month the range of discussion included topics like functions at the Maikoiko Street Park; Park rules for all parks; responsibility for the security at the various parks; ways to develop interest in the different facilities including the Community Center, commonly referred to as "The Stables"; change of Healthcare Insurance plans/providers; Solar systems; electrical issues; foreclosure quandary; proposed survey for Members, etc..
As this is the 'Cliff Notes' version the Watchdog will keep it brief.
- Maikoiko St Park is a project in process. The hours were determined and two functions were approved to occur there but the rules governing its use over all will be developed through committee and later reviewed by the Board.
- The Papio Ocean Park is also a project in process. The Board approved an additional $2000 to complete the grounds as proposed. Park's Sign was tentatively deliberated but in that it contained language that alludes to Rules it is on hold for the policies that will govern Parks.[More on this in a separate post]
- The Community Center, aka The Stables, was approved for tenting and re-roofing at an approximate cost of $45K. [More on this in a separate post]
- The Foreclosed property was determined to be such a loss to invest any more monies would be inappropriate so it has been dropped and left for the County of Hawaii to auction off for back taxes.
- Insurance rates for our staff's medical netted a savings and a change to the policy with a one yr guarantee to hold the cost static for the year.
- Discussion over the radio meter installation was tense. The agreement was reached with the Director of Operations to use the month of July to install meters as a dedicated project. [More on this in a separate post]
- A solar system for the Pool power sources is on hold until a determination can be made how much power is being used by the office which shares the same meter. This information will later be used to determine whether or not a $2200+ bid to create a separate meter for the office is warranted.
- Update on Petty Cash Account [More on this in a separate post]
